Mercury opposite Mars

Taking a softer approach

Kelli Fox

You tend to talk before you think about what you're going to say, and that can get you into real trouble -- with your friends and family, at work, and with your sweetie. Especially if you're on a date with someone new whom you're trying to impress, it's essential that you tone it down; otherwise, you'll probably be halfway through a full-blown argument before you realize that maybe you should have been a little less aggressive in the first place! You tend to spoil for fights, probably without even realizing it.

It's not that you want to hurt people's feelings or put them on the defensive; it's that, for some reason, you thrive on that tense, confrontational energy. You like being right, and proving other people wrong. But they don't like being wrong any more than you do, and feeling ridiculed or unheard can be plenty of grounds for a breakup. If you want to find a love that lasts, you're going to have to learn to be a little more tactful with that special someone. Let them have their say, and listen with a minimum of eye-rolling! Remember that their viewpoint is every bit as valid as yours, and that you can draw more flies with honey than with vinegar.
