Knock it off with the nurturing, already. There's only so much a person can take, as your previous lovers tried to explain to you. The normal ones, anyway.
It's not that folks don't like to be taken care of, because they do -- up to a point. But when you start cutting their meat for them or getting them into their jammies at night, you've gone too far. Any adult who tolerates that kind of over-caretaking has psychological problems, not that you would notice. Nope, you'd keep on taking care of them, most likely building up a perfectly understandable secret resentment inside. Somewhere deep inside you, you know there's got to be a better way. There is, and it's not hard to find. You've simply got to make sure that you don't give more than you get. The nurturer needs nurturing, too, you know. Your ideal partner is someone who will recognize, and insist, on this. You get your shoulder rub first, and you sit down to eat when everyone else does, instead of running back and forth from the kitchen to the table. You'll feel a lot happier once you take care of yourself as well as you take care of others.
