For the several months of this transit, the established authority struggles against enemies it can neither see nor define. Its certain that something is attempting to dissolve the grip of power that the current establishment holds, but the nature of this dissolution is impossible to determine. The reaction of the authorities is predictable: They will attempt to tighten the grip, increase the rules and clamp down on any type of creative -- and therefore dangerous -- endeavor. But this wont work for long. As the establishment squeezes, the offending ideas simply slip through their fingers, leaving them empty-handed, surprised and resentful. If only they knew how futile such resistance is to the force of change. This nebulous energy will dissolve the established power the way water wears away a rock. In this battle between the realists and the idealists, the latter will always win -- eventually.

This rare transit enables us mere earthlings to transcend boundaries, manifest our creative urges, learn about nonattachment to the physical world and make our dreams come true. Idealism inspires practicality and we make our compassion real by providing selfless assistance to those in need. This can even be a period of sweeping political changes that happen without a lot of fuss, and thats rare! The most important thing at this time is to articulate our dreams and wishes, because then they have a far greater chance of actually becoming reality. Not that everything is totally rosy in this picture; there can also be quite a bit of idealization of authority as well as a failure to recognize necessary lessons and important boundaries. At worse, we relinquish the reins of power or weigh down the situation with passive control. Artists fare well under this transit, especially when they muster up the dedication and discipline to keep at their craft when theyd rather go out for a beer. Generally, though, an inner finger wags until they get back to the drawing board, as it were. Its time for each of us to find enchantment in the world.

This transit only rolls around every thirty-five years or so. When it does, it usually has three exact passes over the course of several months -- and each pass is a doozy. What we have here is nothing less than established authority facing off against an invisible but potent enemy, one it cant define, contain or defeat. They push it down here and it pops up over there. They attempt to squash it and it seemingly evaporates. It leaves the establishment exhausted, undermined and impotent. There is extreme polarization, but which side is the Good Guy and which side is the Bad Guy is up to interpretation. These are forces that are bigger than any individual person and operate mostly on the larger political or corporate plane, although that may indeed involve many people. Its like water wearing down a rock, or perhaps more like a flood in the capital city. The upshot is the dissolving and washing away of the status quo and the established structures. Its a swabbing of the decks, a cleaning of the slate, a big storm that blows down old trees. It paves the way for building something better.
