At some point you'll both start to realize that something just isn't quite clicking between you. If you can acknowledge that right away, talk it out and find a way to compromise, things will be much easier for you. But unless you have a good, strong communicative bond going for you, that isn't likely to happen.
Instead, you'll begin to notice that more and more frequently, you two just don't see eye to eye. The problem may be one of dependence and vulnerability -- your friend will feel threatened by your sense of independence and individuality. You'll need to communicate openly about the problems between you and figure out what adjustments need to be made. If you can't communicate openly, then this friendship may not be worth the trouble.
